At the southern end of Steve McLean Park, near the corner of Deer Park and Meadowlands, stands the Long Park Tennis Club (the club did not have its name changed when the park itself was renamed after Fisher Heights’s former resident Steve McLean, former astronaut).
Neighbourhood volunteer run
The club has been in operation since the 1960s and, since 1991, has been operated by a small group of neighbourhood volunteers, under the auspices of the City of Ottawa. The aim is to provide a safe and good environment within the Fisher Heights area where families can enjoy recreational tennis.
The club is located at 1170 Deer Park Road on the corner of Deer Park Road and Meadowlands). Four courts are available to members between April and the end of October, seven days a week, dawn till dusk.
Membership registration for 2020 season
Half-price membership fees for Long Park Tennis Club are now in effect until the end of October (weather permitting):
- Family (parents and children under 18): $40
- Single: $29
- Student (enrolled at university or college): $25
- Junior (under the age of 18): $16
